Our cardiology team provides comprehensive treatment if you are living with heart problems. This includes coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, various arrhythmias, cardiomyopathy and congenital heart disease.
If you or a family member have been diagnosed with coronary artery disease or acute coronary syndrome, we can provide 24-hour inpatient and outpatient treatment. This includes emergency care, cardiac surgery, cardiac rehabilitation and outpatient rehabilitation. Our arrhythmia service includes atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia and implantation of various cardiac devices.
When arranging an appointment, you will see one of our experienced cardiology consultants, and our care team will look after you every step of the way – from advice at your first consultation, through to ongoing support after your treatment. You will usually be invited to one of our Cardiology Clinics two to four weeks after your referral from Primary Care. Following your care, and depending on your specific treatment, you will have follow-up appointments.
When you arrive at the Cardiology Clinic, you will be checked in. Within five minutes of your arrival, our cardiology nurse will carry out an initial clinical screening. Wait times are around 15-20 minutes, and your appointment will usually last 20-30 minutes.
Depending on your condition, you may need to take part in further imaging procedures and/or laboratory tests. All of these procedures and any follow-up appointments can be arranged by our cardiology team.
Following your care, and depending on your specific treatment, you will have follow-up appointments. We use a group practice cardiology care system, so please note that your follow-up appointment can be with any cardiologist available on your preferred date.
If you have further diagnostic, intervention procedures and/or rehabilitation, our nursing team will explain to you any preparation needs, and answer any questions about your next steps within cardiology services.
