Visitor Information

Welcome to Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare’s (JHAH) visitor information page. We are delighted that you are visiting us. We provide expert support at both our Al-Hasa and Dhahran facilities and would like to assure you that the care of our patients and visitors is our top priority. Hospital visits can be worrying, and we make every effort to provide a comfortable environment, with our dedicated teams on hand to answer any questions you may have about our facilities or aspects of care.

Visitor, escort, and companion guidelines

At Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare, our patients, staff, and the community is our priority, and we must do everything we can to keep them safe. To prevent the spread of viruses, we encourage all persons and visitors accessing our facilities to comply with our visiting guidelines. JHAH has instituted guidelines for visitors, escorts, and companions at all JHAH hospitals and clinic locations, except in particular circumstances.

For your and your family's safety, the guidelines below will be in place until further notice.

Only two visitors per inpatient at the bedside at a time.

Pediatric patients

The parents or guardian are allowed to visit and no more than two adults at the bedside at a time.

Critically ill and end-of-life

Two visitors are allowed at the bedside a time for patients at end-of-life or critically ill as indicated by the treatment team. Exceptions to accommodate more visitors may apply.

All visitation exceptions require approval prior to the visit. Please contact Admission & Discharge for clearance and approval from the unit charge nurse.

 

One visitor is allowed per patient undergoing urgent/emergency surgery.

When the patient is about to be moved to the procedure room, the visitor/escort should wait outside the hospital. When the patient is ready to go home or be admitted, the visitor/escort will be contacted and asked to return to the hospital and get updated on the patient's status.

One visitor is allowed at the bedside during emergency treatment.

Two patient-preferred visitors are allowed at the bedside to support during the birthing process (After delivery, the visitors can accompany the patient to the Mother & Baby unit and follow the inpatient visiting guidelines afterward.

Inpatient

Two visitors at the bedside at a time are allowed to be with patient to accompany the patient upon discharge.

Outpatient - hospital-based invasive procedures

For outpatient hospital-based invasive procedures, including surgery/moderate sedation. One visitor is allowed to accompany the patient for hospital discharge.

Physical or cognitive assistance

For patients who need physical or cognitive assistance, one visitor is allowed per patient.

Rehabilitation

One visitor is allowed to support patient in the rehabilitation unit.

Oncology Treatment Center

No visitor/escort is permitted in our cancer care infusion clinic due to increased risk to immunocompromised patients; visitors must wait outside the hospital or in designated areas per instruction from the treatment team. Escorts will be contacted to return to the hospital.

All Other Clinics

Patients who require physical or cognitive assistance. One escort is allowed per patient.

Family members or friends are encouraged to follow infection control measures while waiting in the lobbies or common areas, including any/all common spaces, cafeteria, and food court within the care location.

Patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, will not be allowed to have visitors.

Visitors at JHAH are advised to follow the below Infection preventive measures. Failure or inability to comply with these directions will require immediate exit from the hospital or clinics.

Face masks

All visitors must wear a face mask to enter any Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare facility.

Hand hygiene

All visitors must maintain hand hygiene and infection control protocols throughout the duration of their visit.

General information

  • All children should be supervised by an adult when visiting
  • It is important that visitors use hand gel sanitizer when entering and leaving the ward. Please feel free to ask staff if they have washed their hands
  • Please do not visit for 48 hours if you have had diarrhea or vomiting
  • Please do not visit if you have a cough, cold or sore throat
  • Please use the chairs provided in the room and do not sit on the patient's bed, and always use the visitors' toilets
  • Flowers are prohibited in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Talk to staff if you have concerns about the cleanliness of the ward or public areas
  • If the visiting times cause difficulties, please speak to a staff member
  • Please check with our nursing teams about bringing in food items

The main cafeteria for visitors and staff is located on the ground floor in Building 3, opposite administration.
Open seven days from 6 a.m – 8:30 a.m, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m, 5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. – 1:30 a.m. 

COVID-19 temporary service change: Take away service only; no dining

Coffee stations

Al-Hasa has Café Liwan coffee shops at its outpatient area, offering a wide range of beverages and hot and cold snacks.
Open from 6:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 1 p.m. – 7 p.m. weekends and holidays.

Vending machines

Available throughout Al-Hasa hospital, these offer hot and cold beverages as well as a selection of healthy snacks.

The vending machines are located in the Primary Care lobby by the Collection Lab; in the Admission lobby, and by the EMS entrance.

Additional Services

Mosques and prayer rooms 

Al-Hasa’s female prayer area is located near the rehabilitation unit.

COVID-19 Special Measure: The mosque is temporarily closed.

Flower shop 

A flower shop can be found near the main entrance.
Open 12:30 – 8 p.m. seven days a week.

Cash machine 

Al-Hasa’s ATM can be found at the inpatient main entrance of the hospital.

Bedside TV and phone service

Most wards have televisions and bedside telephones.

Open 6:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. on weekdays, and from 6:30 - 11 a.m. on weekends and holidays.

Coffee stations

Coffee shops in Dhahran are located in the Speciality Clinic area (building 61) and Surgicare.
Open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday through Thursday.
Holidays and weekends closed.

Available throughout the hospital, these offer hot and cold beverages as well as a selection of healthy snacks.

Mosques and prayer rooms 

The female prayer area at Dhahran is located in the basement of Building 61, along with our male mosque.

Welcome guides

We offer a welcome guide service to assist you with directions within our hospitals and provide you with a wheelchair if needed. They are stationed at the main entrances of the hospitals and at the Primary Care Building 50 at Dhahran, and the outpatient entrance at Al-Hasa.

Care Services

Pharmacy

At JHAH, we know it is important for you to quickly and easily refill a prescription, or find out more about your prescribed medication. Our MyChart online health portal enables you to arrange medication refills wherever you are, and can send you notifications when medication is available for you to collect or renew. You won’t have to travel far to collect your medication, as all of our clinics have a pharmacy where prescriptions ordered by our expert physicians can be conveniently filled.
