Senior Nurse Clinician, Emergency Care

Alaa is an experienced, well-respected RN with over 15 years’ practice in emergency nursing. Towards the end of 2020, Alaa took the ambitious career move over to the rapidly evolving field of Nursing Informatics – fully cognizant of the emerging role that information technology plays in healthcare.

Now in her second year on the Clinical Information Management Team, Alaa has become the driving force for clinical technology innovations at JHAH, championing many initiatives such as the MyChart Bedside Project, IV Pump and Epic upgrades, clinical documentation deficiencies and Closed Medical Records Review compliance, Epic Downtime Policies and procedures, the increase of Rover usage through the COVID vaccination program, and much more.

Alaa’s effective leadership and collaboration bridging both IT and clinical professionals contributed to JHAH being recognized at the highest level of Epic’s Honor Roll program reflecting a commitment to implementing best practices to engage patients in the care process, making software easier for clinicians to use, and allowing JHAH to keep pace with the rapid advancements in health technology.

She is an active member of the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and academically, she is one of only two JHAH RNs who hold the prestigious Epic Clinical Informatics certification.
